Life has a way of giving you a massive reality check at times though doesn't it?

On Friday I was told that Val Franklin had passed away, then on Sunday we found out that Rob Burrow had lost his battle against the disease. A stark reminder that at present there is only one winner when MND is involved.
I'm guessing that some of you reading this may well have known Val and so are fully aware of the lovely person she was. I first met her next to the 18th green at Rushcliffe Golf Club, as we waited for a group of ladies to finish a '72 holes in a day challenge'. Raising money for Stand Against MND. Val was one of the first people I'd met in person who also had MND. At that time I was visibly more advanced in my progression than Val, in my powered wheelchair and reliant on my ventilator. A casual observer would never have known we had the same illness.
Val would later tell me that she found that first meeting quite difficult. Looking at me was frightening, like seeing what the future could hold. To their enormous credit, Val and her husband Pete agreed to come over for a cup of tea to pick my brains about my journey. Nobody ever warns you about the mountains of admin that come with a degenerative disease, and if you don't keep up with it at your end you might not get the help you need. I'd been through a lot of it and I hope had a few useful tips.
Opening up and wanting that information takes immense courage. It shows in my view an acceptance of your circumstances, and a determination to make the most of the time you have. I'm so pleased that Val and I shared that outlook.
You would never have known what we were discussing based on the amount of laughter in the room. I was left with that familiar feeling of confusion as to why MND seems to attack such lovely people.
Val and her family became and remain stellar supporters of the charity, and I would frequently see them at the monthly golf club quizgo (highly recommended if you enjoy trivia and are of course willing to donate any winnings to a local charity...)* Val always had a smile and a chat whilst Pete always had a one liner at the ready.
*Not compulsory
Over time we saw each other less and less as we both found spending time out and about more challenging, until I heard the news last Friday. RIP Val, it was lovely to know you. All my love to the Franklin family.
A life with MND, particularly when you are integrated with patient communities on line and in person, means that losing people is tragically a frequent occurrence. A consistent reminder of your own proximity to death.
So how to react to such sobering news on such a regular basis? I remember I am alive. I have opportunity. I love. I laugh, I strive, I experience. In Vals honour, in Robs honour, for all the fallen warriors I've lost along the way,
I will live the most significant life I can muster.
Nothing else matters

Just as farmers feed pigs to fatten them up until they reach market size, such is the nature of the “Pig Butchering Scam”—a cruel and calculated scheme I recently experienced. It nearly cost me my life and left me feeling hopeless, until I came across SpyHost Cybersecurity Company.
How did it all start?
It began when I stumbled upon a widely advertised investment company on Meta (Facebook), promising unbelievably high returns. Blinded by the hope of securing a better future for my children and future generations, I invested everything I had—10 BTC. In hindsight, it was greed and desperation that led me into such a devastating trap. But life sometimes throws us into the worst situations so that we can learn the hardest lessons and gain invaluable experience.
At this point, I urge everyone out there to be extremely cautious with any investment opportunity that seems too good to be true—because it probably is.
Fortunately, my story took a positive turn when a member of a social media group I belonged to referred me to SpyHost Cybersecurity Company. Skeptical but desperate, I decided to give them a try. To my absolute astonishment, they turned out to be legitimate experts in crypto asset recovery.
From the moment the recovery process started, I was speechless. I had heard of hackers and cybersecurity specialists before, but SPYHOST truly exceeded all expectations. Within 72 hours, they recovered my lost funds using advanced tools and software—some of which are only available on the dark web. They described my case as “severe,” making the successful recovery even more impressive and a testament to their expertise.
SPYHOST CYBERSECURITY can be contacted via:
[Spyhost@cyberdude.com] or WhatsApp: +1 (228) 313‑3152
This is the least I can do to show my gratitude—and to help others who might be going through a similar situation. If you’re a victim of crypto fraud, do not lose hope. Reach out to SPYHOST. They are the best in the field.
You should learn how the most prevalent kinds of cryptocurrency scams operate, how to recognize them, and what to do if you fall victim to one if you are considering investing in cryptocurrency or currently own digital assets. Giveaways, new romance scams, phishing, extortion emails, false company notifications, blackmail, “rug pulls,” and maybe fake mining programs or networks are all examples of scams. Poorly written white papers, overzealous marketing campaigns, and get-rich-quick boasts are all indicators of cryptocurrency scams. To avoid getting scammed, there are a few things you can do. Refuse to provide your private bitcoin keys when asked. No one requires those keys for a valid bitcoin transaction, and they govern your wallet and cryptocurrency access. Finally, avoid working with investment managers who approach you and claim to be able to grow your money rapidly. Victim of a Pig-Butchering Scam? Here’s How I Recovered My Crypto
If you’ve fallen victim to a Pig-Butchering scam, you’re not alone, and more importantly, there’s still hope.
I’m sharing my story to raise awareness and help others who’ve been scammed recover their stolen digital assets. Two months ago, I lost $1,846,000 worth of Bitcoin and ETH in one of these sophisticated frauds.
It began with someone posing as a popular investor named “Ryan” on Instagram. His account looked legitimate, He reached out offering what seemed like a private, lucrative crypto investment opportunity. Everything seemed real, so I invested. Over the course of several weeks, I transferred significant amounts of crypto.
Then, without warning, the account was wiped clean. My entire balance gone.
I reported it to the authorities immediately, but despite their efforts, there was little they could do. Crypto transactions are notoriously hard to reverse, and scammers often route funds through multiple wallets to hide their tracks. Thankfully, a colleague with strong government connections referred me to a professional recovery team called Morphohack. He had heard they were reputable and had helped others in similar situations.
With nothing left to lose, I reached out and shared every detail I had, transaction records, addresses, communications. The Morphohack team responded quickly and took immediate action. Incredibly, within 96 hours, they traced my assets through the blockchain and successfully recovered the majority of my stolen funds. I was in shock. After everything, I thought my money was gone for good, but they delivered what I thought was impossible.
I’m sharing this as a lifeline.
If you or someone you know has been targeted by a Pig-Butchering scam, don’t suffer in silence. Reach out and explore recovery options.
You can contact Morphohack via E-mail:MORPHOHACK@CYBERSERVICES . COM
Please share this to help others who may be struggling in silence, there is a path forward.
